About Dan Bowen

After graduating from USC's School of Film & Television, Bowen became VP of Production & Development for 5-time Golden Globe and 7-time Emmy Award-winning Actor/Producer, Ed Asner. Ed's small, yet hugely passionate and creative production company afforded Bowen fertile ground to create, develop and produce a wide array of diverse concepts in both film and television.

From there, Bowen moved on to Produce, Consult and/or Executive Produce for ABC, NBC, CBS, ESPN, MTV, The Discovery Channel, HBO, MCA TV, VH-1, FOX, TLC and numerous others.

Bowen enjoyed a successful and diverse 9-year career with the Walt Disney Company (ABC and ESPN) as a Producer, then Executive Producer. There, he joined forces with a team of elite producers and journalists to produce the critically acclaimed, 60-hour documentary series, “SportsCentury”, a riveting look that exposed the raw truth, blemishes and all, behind the most compelling stories of the 20th Century. Thereafter, Bowen created, launched and oversaw over a hundred television initiatives for these Disney networks.

In 2007, Dan moved on to produce independently. His first client was his "old boss", ABC and ESPN. Soon, new clients would emerge such as A&E, Discovery/TLC, The Speed Channel, WE TV, CBS and more.

Bowen was raised in an “industry” family. His father Roger was one of the founders of the famed Second City in Chicago and from there went on to have a successful career as one of America's most popular character actors and voice-over talents. Bowen's mother, Ann is an Off-Broadway Director who has garnered critical acclaim over the span of her nearly 50-year career in “legit” theatre.

Bowen's greatest producing achievement came when his wife agreed to marry him and his son Jack and daughter Sydney entered the world.
